"Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest."— Matthew 11:28
There are seasons in every woman's life when the path ahead seems uncertain. A cherished relationship changes. A loved one dies. Children grow up and leave home. Health concerns emerge. Retirement arrives. A job ends. Plans unravel. Sometimes the changes we face are chosen; often they are not.

In those difficult seasons, it can feel as though we are carrying more than we can bear.
The Gospel for this Sunday offers one of Jesus' most tender invitations: "Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest." These words are not directed only to the strong, the successful, or the spiritually accomplished. They are spoken to weary people—to those carrying grief, disappointment, uncertainty, and fear.
Many women of faith know what it means to keep going even when their hearts are tired. They continue caring for others, meeting responsibilities, and showing up for family, church, and community. Yet beneath the surface we may be asking questions that have no easy answers. Why did this happen? What comes next? Will I ever feel like myself again?
Jesus does not promise to remove every burden immediately. He does not tell us to pretend that loss doesn't hurt or that change isn't difficult. Instead, He invites us into relationship. "Come to me."
Notice that before speaking about burdens, Jesus speaks of the Father's love and wisdom. There is a reminder here that even when life feels confusing, God has not lost sight of us. The future may be hidden from our view, but it is never hidden from God’s.
When we are discouraged, we often assume that we must carry our struggles alone until we find a solution. Jesus offers a different way. He asks us to place our burdens beside His heart. Prayer becomes less about finding answers and more about finding His presence. Rest comes not because every problem is solved, but because we discover that we are not carrying these burdens by ourselves.
The gentle Christ of this Gospel understands human weakness. He knows grief. He knows uncertainty. He knows what it is to walk through suffering while trusting the Father's plan. Because of this, He can meet us exactly where we are.
If you find yourself in a difficult season today, hear these words personally: "Come to me." Bring your questions, your fears, your sadness, and your hopes. Bring the burden that feels too heavy. Bring the change you never expected.
The Lord who calls you is gentle and humble of heart. He does not rush your healing or dismiss your pain. He walks beside you, carrying what you cannot carry alone.
And sometimes, that is where rest begins.
