Apostolic Conversion

I love this time after Lent, when we get the readings of the apostles, and we hear the ways that the mission of Jesus was being spread after his death, including “the whole city almost came together.”
And yet, envy consumes the hearts of the religious. How easy is it for our own hearts to be envious, rather than zealous, because of the ways Jesus or those in His name, are sharing of His words, and His works? And yet, do we not perceive what is happening in our own hearts?

I look at the ways envy consumes my heart, now in this Easter season, a time of resurrection and freedom, and yet, I look back. I am consumed by the place I once was, to who I used to be. The place before whatever event changed your life, and yet we continue, but only forward.
Let us not be like the Jews, but rather the Gentiles, that were embraced and shown a new way of living. As we come out of the “great tribulations” of the second reading, he welcomes us to newness. A way forward.
Let the Resurrection pierce our hearts. Let His power embrace us. We have been offered freedom, let us live in that, as we are ultimately His, and listen to His voice calling us to live the life, we live. We are meant to grow and awaken to that deeper part of ourselves.
